Shichida Australia's Early Learning Centres have been featured in…
Come see, be taught and get ideas of what you can do with your child.
Five Areas The Workshop Will Focus On
Memory Games
Research has found that working memory is not only a better predictor for academic success than IQ but that a strong working memory makes learning easier and stress-free! Working memory temporarily stores and manages information for complex cognitive tasks such as learning, comprehension and critical thinking. Shichida memory games teach proven memory techniques to children at the ideal age to make sure it sticks with them throughout adulthood.
Critical Thinking
Nothing will be more important in your child’s future than the ability to solve problems! Discover how our fun critical thinking activities teach children to identify, analyse and comprehend cause and effect in a variety of situations. We help children develop strong problem-solving skills so they can face their future with intelligence, creativity and the ability to adapt with ease to whatever life throws at them.
Image Play
Learn how to engage and take advantage of your child’s wild imagination through a variety of activities called image play. Image play not only helps children to clearly visualise their goals so that they can reach them faster; it broadens their imaginations, encourages positive thinking, increases empathy and builds their vocabulary to enhance their creative writing later on.
Literacy
Learn how to make your child’s first introduction to letters as fun and as thorough as possible.  Understand the gradual steps of knowing the phonics of letters to reading and writing. Build your child’s confidence for when they go to school with Shichida’s fun literacy activities!
Numeracy
Understand how the numeracy foundation can be built throughout a child’s early years.  We engage the senses and teach using a visual, auditory and kinaesthetic approach.  Know and learn how to make use of opportunities are constantly present outside of the classroom. Take advantage of these opportunities to make numeracy fun and applicable to real life.
Each room will host one of the above area of activities
You will be shown what can be worked on from 0-3 years old in each of the above area of activities
You will get some tips when working with your child at home
You will get a good understanding of why specific activities are done and what it leads up to
You may wish to complete a Shichida assessment for your child and get a summary of your child’s current developmental stage
During the youngest years, the brain is at its most plastic and malleable.
This means it can easily adapt, adjust, and be impacted. It is the first 5 years, known as the 'Sensitive Period', when up to 90% of the brain is formed!
These years provide an exclusive window of opportunity to build a strong foundation. Our innate abilities decrease as we age or fail to stimulate them. This is called the 'Law of Diminishing Ability', and this is why taking advantage of early learning and experiences is crucial.

Understanding how to help your child requires some knowledge of the brain.

The brain is forever growing, adapting and changing based on its environment and inputs. Its architecture is built from the bottom up, meaning it forms a base in the early years.
New information is 'scaffolded' on the existing foundation, so our previous knowledge greatly determines how well we integrate new information.
To put it in the words of the experts, "What happens during the first months and years of life matters a lot not because this period of development provides an indelible blueprint for adult wellbeing but because it sets either a sturdy or fragile stage for what follows." – Shonkoff & Philipps, 2000.

The brain is made of many different parts.

Each part of the brain performs its own function, but to work at capacity, all parts must be balanced and work in harmony.

Stimulating the whole brain will 'optimise' it to receive, store and apply information in the best way possible.

Shichida's Amazing Children
This 30-second video shows some of Shichida’s 'superstars'. These children provide excellent examples of what happens when the heart and mind are meaningfully stimulated from an early age.

The children in this video have a few things in common: They have consciously developed their brains from a young age; they’ve attended a high-quality education program that’s helped them to attain their potential; and they are supported in a loving and informed way by their parents.
